Apple rolled out the iOS 15.1.1 update for eligible iPhones last month and now, the company has announced that it has stopped signing codes for iOS 15.1. This means iPhone users with the latest iOS 15.1.1 or the beta version of iOS 15.2 can no longer downgrade to iOS 15.1. So, if you are already using the latest iOS version then you can not downgrade, even if you want to.
The iOS 15.1 was the first major update since the company launched the 2021 edition of its mobile operating system iOS, iOS 15. The tech giant regularly stops signing legacy codes after a new iOS build is launched as it allows the company to keep more devices on feature-rich versions. The move also protects users from hackers that try to use newly discovered vulnerabilities.
Although the company doesn’t recommend downgrading to an older iOS build, iPhone users who face battery issues and any other bugs when they install a new iOS build update also try to downgrade their operating system.
The latest iOS 15.1.1 update comes with a fix for call drop issues on the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. The update is available only for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 family.
Last month, some Apple iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series users complained about call drop related problems on their device. A bug apparently led to call drops even in areas with strong network coverage. With the update, the issue was fixed.
To install the latest iOS version on your iPhone, go to Settings> General> Software Update. If an update is available for your device, you can download and install it from the option at the bottom of the screen.
