The brand new hidden shortcut on an iPhone’s Apple logo that you probably didn’t know about – My London

iPhone news

There is a secret shortcut on your iPhone that you might not know about.

The back of the phones have an Apple logo which can act as a button to carry out tasks.

The iOS 14 software update means that the feature, called “Back Tap,” allows users to quickly access iPhone features by tapping the logo.

iPhone carriers can customise the functions that the tap will enable, The Daily Record reports.

Any models, from iPhone 8 onwards, have the ability to use the “Back Tap” feature.

The latest update means that two or three taps can activate various functions.

iPhone users have the ability to choose what the taps do, from volume control to screenshotting and returning to the home or lock screen.

There is also the option to switch between apps.

The double or triple tap can also trigger an Accessibility Shortcut to access Assistive Touch, Siri Shortcuts, Magnifier, Reachability or Voice Over.

Users have the option to customise a double tap and triple tap with separate functions.

The shortcut could make simple operations much quicker.

The time-saver option will appear on iPhones if they have the most recent software update.

To do so, go to Settings then:

  • Go to ‘Accessibility’
  • Go to ‘Touch’
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the menu, where you will find a setting called ‘Back Tap’

The feature means that simple functions can be carried out with ease.

Don’t forget that thick or heavy iPhone cases could reduce the sensitivity of the Apple logo and therefore stop the function from working.

It is however usually usable through thinner phone cases.
