It will also use a radio frequency IC, with Apple’s A16 Bionic processor. However, there are reports that the company will unveil the iPhone 15 series with its own chips by 2023.
On the road to self-developed chips, Apple has been down-to-earth to eventually achieve 100% of its own products using self-developed chips. Although this year is boring, this goal is likely to be achieved in 2023. According to the report, the 2023 iPhone 15 will use self-developed chips for the first time. The 5G chips will use TSMC’s 5nm process, radiofrequency ICs will use TSMC’s 7nm process and the A17 Bionic processor will use TSMC’s 3nm process for mass production.
According to reports, Apple’s self-developed 5G chips and supporting RF ICs have been designed. The company will commence trial production and sample delivery in the near future. In 2021, Kuo declared that Apple will debut the periscope lens in the iPhone 15. Now, an interesting shred of information suggests that a periscope lens will be available in at least one of the upcoming iPhone 15 models.
For those who are unaware, a periscope lens alludes to a long telephoto setup that sits inside a phone’s camera module. It enhances a device’s overall zooming capability. In a new report by MacRumors, analyst Jeff Pu reiterated Kuo’s speculation. To recall, the iPhone 13 came with 3x zoom. The smartphone industry is no stranger to periscope lens. Android flagships have been featuring telephoto lenses for a long time. In fact, it is one of the most notable features of Samsung’s Galaxy S21 Ultra.
