iPhone 15 Pro leaks: Bigger upgrades for 2023?
Next-gen 3nm processor
TSMC will be able to mass produce the 3nm chipsets from late 2023 and that gives Apple the perfect opportunity to use the 3nm chips on its iPhone 15 Pro series. Rumours suggest that the 3nm manufacturing process would give Apple’s A17 chip to offer a big leap in performance and power efficiency over the rumoured 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 powering the Samsung Galaxy S23 series as well as other Android flagships. The A16 Bionic chip from the iPhone 14 Pro may make it to the iPhone 15 regular variants this year.
New Periscope lens for zoom camera
The iPhone 15 Pro is also said to get a new periscope lens arrangement for the telephoto camera. There are no details on the image sensor but the periscope lens arrangement could allow at least up to 5X optical zoom. Apple could go all out and settle for a 10X optical lens arrangement to beat the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Apple is less likely to make any changes to the 48MP main camera and the new ultra-wide image sensor from the iPhone 14 Pro.
USB-C on iPhone
With the EU regulations looking to mandate the USB-C port from 2024, Apple could be giving up the Lightning port and switch to USB-C on its iPhone lineup. This could allow Apple to offer much better compatibility with multiple USB-C chargers. Additionally, it could allow perks such as faster data transfer speeds and faster charging solutions.
