iPhone 14 vs iPhone 13: 5 key differences which make this year’s flagship shine – HT Tech

iPhone news

Apple launched the iPhone 14 this year in a similar form factor as last year’s iPhone 13, but with some substantial upgrades. But what really is the difference?

It has just been a week since Apple announced its latest flagship, the iPhone 14 series at its “Far out” event and people cannot stop talking about the 2 most exciting phones in the series, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The Cupertino-based tech giant announced four new iPhone models – iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, alongside 3 new Apple watches and Airpods Pro 2.

However, due to Apple completely revamping the design of the iPhone 14 Pro models with the inclusion of the new “Dynamic Island” notch. Apple has also made significant upgrades to the iPhone 14 which give it a substantial advantage over iPhone 13 despite being nearly identical in look. But what actually is the difference between iPhone 14 and iPhone 13?

iPhone 14 vs iPhone 13

Better Chipset

Apple announced that this year’s standard iPhone 14 will be powered by the same A15 Bionic chipset as last year’s iPhone 13 Pro variants. However, what has gone unnoticed is that Apple has upgraded both GPU and RAM. iPhone 14 is powered by a 5-core GPU with 6GB of RAM compared to the 4-core GPU and 4GB of RAM in the iPhone 13. This should give the iPhone 14 a significant performance advantage.

Bigger Size

Apple previously reserved the big-screen iPhone for the Pro lineup. However, the Cupertino-based tech giant has changed its strategy this year by offering a bigger 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus instead of a ‘Mini’ version like the iPhone 13 Mini. So, anyone who has been looking for a bigger iPhone without paying the premium for the Pro version, the iPhone 14 Plus is the best option for you.

Improved Cameras

iPhone 14 has also received a new front camera. It now has a new 12MP sensor with autofocus for capturing subjects with crystal-clear clarity. The Photonic Engine also promises better low-light performance compared to last year. The rear-camera sensors have also been improved with the promise of even better image quality.

Crash Detection & SOS Satellite Messaging

One unexpected feature to arrive in the iPhone 14 this year is Crash Detection. Your iPhone will detect if there has been a crash and will immediately notify emergency services. Additionally, the iPhone 14 also gets Satellite Messaging which provides you the option to send SOS messages directly via satellite even if there is no cell reception.

Battery Life

Apple has promised an hour extra of battery life on the iPhone 14, with 20 hours of video playback and 80 hours of audio. The iPhone 13 already had an impressive battery life and it is set to improve even further in the iPhone 14.
