iPhone 14 designs have leaked and they delivered a mixture of good news and bad. But now new schematics have revealed Apple does have one more surprising design change up its sleeve.

Attained by mysterious leaker ShrimpApplePro, the new CAD files show Apple is making major improvements to the bezels of its iPhone 14 Pro models. And it will fulfil a wish fans have had for years.
First, the leaker reveals that Apple is shrinking the size of the bezels on the iPhone 14 Pro Max from 2.42 mm to 1.95mm, a reduction of almost 20%. This is the biggest reduction since the iPhone X was introduced in 2017 and a very welcome upgrade, given the reductions made by Android rivals since then. A sub-2mm bezel would be one of the thinnest on any smartphone.
Second, the iPhone 14 Pro and, presumably by extension the iPhone 14 Pro, will be the first iPhones to have symmetrical bezels on all sides. This is due to a combination of factors: Apple’s bezel reductions mentioned above, and the removal of the notch for the new ‘i-shaped’ punch holes. This ‘i-sore’ has split fans, but the newfound symmetry is indisputably better.

Should you trust ShrimpApplePro? In a word, yes. Despite a bizarre name, the leaker was first to reveal the i-cutout design, news which undermined several bigger and more established insiders.
It’s fair to say that a lot of 2022 iPhone leaks have disappointed fans: the underwhelming iPhone 14 design, the absence of Touch ID, the presence of Lightning, the split performance and the increased prices. On the flip side, they will get the biggest camera upgrade in years.
Has Apple done enough to win over fans? Like all iPhones, I’m sure they will sell like hotcakes, but it certainly doesn’t feel like a golden generation.
